27th Annual Spring Luncheon A Funny Thing Happened at the Library
The Library's 27th Annual Spring Luncheon, co-chaired by Joan Hardy Clark, Heather Mnuchin, Liz Peek, and Calvin Trillin, was held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008. The luncheon is a highly anticipated fundraising benefit for the Library and an important date on New York City's cultural calendar.
This year's theme was humor. The program, A Funny Thing Happened at the Library, was hosted by Pulitzer Prize winner and Editor of The New Yorker David Remnick, and featured lively and entertaining readings by renowned humorists Jenny Allen, Andy Borowitz, Ian Frazier, Fran Lebowitz, and Calvin Trillin. Lunch was served at noon and the program began at 1:00 p.m. in the Celeste Bartos Forum at the Humanities and Social Sciences Library.
The afternoon was filled with many laughs! Proceeds from the Luncheon will benefit the General Book Fund and enable the Library to acquire the books and materials needed to keep its world-renowned collections current and vibrant.
